Serving Our Community Proudly

The Brownsville Fire Fighters Association Local 970 was established on March 1, 1948. With over 70 years of continuous affiliation to the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF), we are one of the oldest labor unions in South Texas. We are also a proud affiliate of the Texas State Association of Fire Firefighters (TSAFF). Our membership is comprised of approximately 165 men and women who proudly serve the Brownsville community as firefighters, paramedics, and rescue personnel. We work closely with the Brownsville Fire Department and the City of Brownsville to not only provide EMS and rescue services but community awareness as well. We are constantly looking for ways to expand our presence in the community. We always love an opportunity to give back to the amazing citizens that have given us so much. While the mission of the fire service is to “protect lives and property,” the BFFA proudly supports our brothers and sisters as they fulfill those duties. Though the challenges we face are ever changing, the Brownsville Firefighters will always be there to answer the call with courage and professionalism.
